China to end compulsory animal testing for imported cosmetics on May 1

Animal testing on 'general cosmetics' is exempted by submitting only two documents. On March 4, National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China stated that “general” cosmetics can be imported into China without animal testing by submitting two documents according to the ‘Provisions for Management of Cosmetic Registration and Notification Dossiers,’. One is a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance certificate, and the other is results of the product’s safety assessment.
